Question

OK, so I am in the middle of fitting my boost guage (MY01), where is the blank plug on the manifold to use as a take off for the boost guage?

Also, is there an obvious place to connect the earth and light power?

Cheers,
Darren.

If it's too difficult to explain and you are willing toi help, drop me a mail with you telephone number and I'll call!

LoFi,
Thanks for the info, I think I have it sussed now!

I was looking for a blank connector on the manifold, the pipe you identified is, I guess, the turbo actuator pipe.

Anyway, I hadn't got a T piece so I have made up a quick home made one until I can get hold of one.

I just gave it a quick run and it was holding at about 17 PSI.

Cheers,
Darren.

Thumbs up

Glad you got it going - held at 17psi sounds great, mine seems to peek at about 17 but hold just over 14 consistently. Which gauge have you fitted?

It's an Autometer from Scoobymania

I have only driven for a few miles so I couodn't say for sure that it held at 17 PSI, but for later testing how would I know? How long does it need to hold at a particular level so say it "held"?

Thanks again,
Darren.

Find a relatively steep hill, put the car in 4th and mash accelerator to carpet, this should give a continuous maximum reading on the gauge and would indicte the held boost. It should stay at that level as long as the engine is under heavy load (and you should have time to look at the gauge!). The max held boost in lower gears, especially 1st and 2nd is usually lower because the engine is under less load. I have a defi gauge which is helpful because it records peek and you can replay 40sec of recorded data.

These are just my observations and I thnk it can vary from car to car. I get a very constant held reading (which I guess is good) and the peek never hits much above 17psi (or 1.2kg/cm2 on the defi).

Hope this helps
