Default gearbox/diff, help

oh the joys,

im looking for some info/help guys.

my hawkeye wrx has been making a whining sound and wont go away,
i gets louder and more high pitched the quicker i go ,but no matter what speed im doing 30-70 if i dip the clutch and let it idle at speed it still makes the noise,
have been told it sounds like the diff whining and starting to go which is located in the gearbox.
so am i right in saying then i would be better just getting another gearbox and diff or would i be able to get the front diff replaced on its own,??

when the cars ticking over etc its fine, pulls like a train in all gears but this bloody whining noise is pi55ing me off,

any help or info would be great guys

personnally you would be best getting it reconditioned, that way you know its done right and you will get a warranty
try
