Question

Please can someone explain to me (in simpleton speak) what exactly the ignition advance language is all about.

I have read numerous threads like "with lower octance fuel the ignition must be retarded" or "it can advance the ignition" and also some more technical terms like "subaru recommend 7 degrees above top dead centre" etc.

I would really love to know what this refers to in terms of the engine. Thanks as always in advance.

Wink

While the source information is clearly related to motorcycles, have a read of the basic info in this link. http://www.hdcycles.com/timingrev.htm Ask additional questions if that makes sense. It gets VERY complex after this.

Mike.
