Question

I have a MY99 4-door which was registered late '98 so was wondering which ecu i have. How do you get to it?I seem to remember seeing that you had to lift the carpet in the passenger footwell-is that right?

TIA

Anyone?

Want to know as took car to turbo specialist who said it was running badly and that it was down to poor mapping which i've made worse by de-catting and fitting Dawes! So am now looking at re-mapping the ecu and wondered where i was starting from (ecu version) so to speak.

Pull back the carpet. Two plastic screw clips hold it up. One on the left and one on right. You'll find a metal sheet. Remove the screws and the bold from the top. Carefull removing it ... its sharp. The ecu will be in front of you and have on it AE800,801 or 802.

See the ecutek site for pictures of the ecus.

Question

It's an AE800!
Is that good or bad as far as re-mapping goes?

Well, it's re-mappable, but the AE800 is the 'good' one in the first place. The people to speak to would be ECUtek - I don't know whether then el-cheapo TEK1 would help in this case (the TEK1 being made really for AE802 replacement) but they'd know!
