Default Stiff when cold lol

Alrite guys, i got a 03 wrx, in the mornings when i reverse off my drive, it can sometimes be very difficult to get into gear, its not just reverse though as when i get to the junction at the end of my road its very hard to get into first, after a a few junctions this clears but is it common to happen?

Yep as the gearbox oil is much thicker when cold.

pretty sure the gearbox still spins even when out of gear only time it doesn't is when you disengage the clutch

The only way to get any of the oils upto a good running temperature is to drive the car.

But you can still warm all your oils appart from brake clutch and rear diff oils by starting the car and letting it stand still, yes full working temp needs to be driven but as engine spins and heats up while at idle and so does gear box internals it will help to start and let run before driving

If you get an oil that does heat up quickly it'll probably be crap at full working temp just use good rated oil and let it warm naturally
