Default Whine

When cruising at any normal speed for 6th gear, there is a whine, i assume from the gearbox...nothing sinister sounding, just wondered if this is normal. its a MY05 sti ppp. cheers.

Well maybe it could do qwith some fresh oil in the box, try either Castrol Syntrax 75-90 or Redline shockproof and see if that cures it

I get this slight whine also. I've just had gearbox and diff oils changed. Again it doesn't sound to bad. I notice it more so on smooth motorways.

The sound is like a faint supercharger noise that the mini makes.

Spot on...that's exactly what it's like, it's by no means intrusive at all, just noticeable.
