Hi Peeps.
Yesterday, I got an e mail off Stephen Done, telling me that David Power and Mervyn from Power Engineering/Ecu Tek were here, in Greece, tuning and modding an EVO 6 and he asked me whether I would like to go and have a look and play with the Delta Dash.
Well I went and found them today. They were working on the EVO 6, fitting DMS suspension and AP brakes, to fitting an ECU and boost controller and heaps more stuff.
They were very helpful towards me. Merv hooked up the Delta Dash to my car and we went for a drive. Top piece of kit. I found that my MAF is probably knackered, cos it came up as a fault in the diagnostic trouble code section and in the data table, the O2 sensor showed that the car was running a little leaner than cars do with the AE 802 ECU.
I had no idea that my MAF could be knackered. The car feels great and it idles well too. So I had no way of telling it was going on me. If I had not hooked up to the delta dash today and not seen the fault code and the info in the data table from the O2 sensor, the leaning out problem would have got worse in time, slowly leading to a blown engine eventually.
This made me realise that the Delta Dash is very usefull cos it can help you see a problem before it becomes very expensive. Due to this, I ordered the software so that I can monitor my engine.
I also got to see heeps of other things, such as knock correction, coolant temperature, Ignition timing, and more.
A big thanks to the lads for firstly, letting me know they were here and also for showing me the Delta Dash. They were very helpful.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

One of the things we monitored, was knock correction. If the timing is being pulled back 2 degrees, does this mean the ECU is picking up det? If so is it dangerous? Or is it normal? What I'm trying to ask is whether it is a bad sign that the ECU has to pull back the timing 2 degrees.

2 degrees is quite normal for standard ECUs. Most cars run 1-2 degrees of correction at certain loads/revs. The STIs and PPP can have even more. I've seen up to 5 degrees of correction from a hot car, and that's with everything working properly, but you wouldn't wan to see that very often.
Since you're in Greece (and it's hot I expect) you are likely to see more than us UK'ers. Keep an eye on it, and as a first fix, try turning down your boost controller if you think you've got trouble.
Cheers

Thanks Steve. Advice taken. I will keep an eye on it. Well it's going to be easy now. I'll definately be turning down the boost for summer.

John,
I have the AE 802 ECU, 5 Zigen exhaust, APS cold air induction, FCD, Blitz boost controller and the Blitz BOV. It was around 20 degrees celsius and I had my boost controller (Blitz DSBC) on 1.17bar (1.2kg/cm2).
A got a MAF sensor history fault in the diagnostics section. The car felt fine and idled fine though. I had no idea that the MAF could be faulty. Now I have to wait for my Delta Dash software to arrive so I can see if the fault is still there, after we did an ECU reset at the end of our session.
My fuelling data from the O2 sensor was showing 0.86Volts. Although not a lean mixture, (I think), Merv said that this was leaner than he had seen on cars with the AE 802. He was expecting to see a richer mix. The leaner mix may have been, due to either from my MAF, if it's faulty, or from the higher temperature than in the UK, or fuel quality. There are rumours that our advertised 98 RON SUL may only be 95 RON here in Greece. I will be sending a sample to a lab for analysis soon.
In summer, above 25 degrees, and in the middle of summer of which most days are over 36 deg Cel, I will turn it down to between 1.0 bar and 1.15 bar. Ofcourse I will be able to tell what is going on withe the Delta Dash and adjust the boost.
I havent got the data with me from my session with Merv to be able to tell you what my intake temps were and I can't remember. Hopefully Merv will still have my data and hopefully we can all get to see the data on their website, or if I get the data e mailed to me I can let you know again. Or we'll have to wait till I get the Delta Dash software and let you know again. I must say that I now need to purchase a laptop cos I don't have one.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Keep us updated WREXY since I am interested to see how you go with the Delta Dash software. Wouldnt mind getting your data and putting it through the demo to see what real raw data looks like.

We are hoping that customers will email us their most interesting logs, and we'll put those up on the site too.
My current favourite is the STI7 Type UK log. Have a look at the wastegate duty. The car is holding 15.7PSI of boost at 7300 RPM with the wastegate solenoid bleeding away nothing from the actuator. The wastegate is as open as it can be. I.e. The ecu cannot drop the boost any lower than 15.7PSI at these revs at full load. External wastegate anyone ?

Should do.
Demand has been fantastic !
We'll be out of stock by the end of the week I think.
Next production run is already under way.

The product has already been tested with P1s and works fine.
They are in stock now. Just mail ecutek and order one if you want.
Cheers

It's diagnostic software which can be downloaded to a laptop and it's similar to the subaru select monitor, the subaru dealers use at service. You plug the cable to where the select monitor plugs into, it reads the ECU and displays, things such as faulty sensors, temperature, air fuel ratio, boost, knock correction, timing, etc. More info here.

How much boost, what typical temperature now, and what ECU?
Me 18.5 PSI, ambient 10-15 C, PPP ECU. Charge temps seem OK on the road - up to 30 C. I want to know what summer will be like!

Really Steve....I'm confused ?
I was looking forward to paying my £625 for supply and fit.
I mailed you and was advised to go to P.E. direct for supply and fit....I did but they said they were still working on the software for the STi5 (P1) but would like to use my car as a test vehicle....
Have I mis interpereted something along the way.... ?
