how good is unichip
#1
how does this compare to a superchip. what limitations does it have eg does it control/adjust boost, fuel etc. if anyone has one fitted how impressed were they and how much power did they gain. is it best used with something else such as dawes. i have a 97 sti4 magnex full decat, hks air/dump. the decat has caused fuel cut off.

Unichip works well for the money. Much better than Superchip and similar money.
Using in combination with a Dawes works well as well.
Get Unichip fitted and mapped by a reputable fitter.

I have a STi4,it did'nt work very well for me and had it stripped off and changed for a Link(much better). It(Unichip) uses a seperate boost controller. These are of varying prices but if you get a good one and then add it to the price of the Unichip you are up to the price of a Link system(almost). The cheaper boost controller that is usually offered in the package seems to have problems controlling the boost, the result for me was a shameful 260BHP on the PE rolling road!!(decatted Type R Ver4 on SUL,filter etc).ie I had lost power!! The car was also detting like mad, this I suppose is a mapping issue and does'nt automatically imply anything about the product. In the end it is about how much money you want to spend and how far you want to go. All this is just my personal experience/opinion.

Something else to remember with the Unichip; it must be mapped or remapped by a dealer. This ends up expensive if you plan to mod further as I have found out!
And don't think you'll stop at just the unichip, you will always want more....
As previoulsy stated with a decent boost controller the unichip ends up the same money as a link. The link also eradicates the need for the dreaded MAF sensor.
