How to fit a downpipe?
#1
I've been getting rather interested in the idea of replacing my DP with a de-cat one (when I can eventually get through to Scoobysport on their seemingly permanently engaged phone line)...
So, how much work is really involved, and what will I need in the way of consumables (gaskets etc)?
It is an MY98, btw.
The heatshield needs to come off first... And the Lambda probe...
The joint to the turbo, and the odd looking joint towards the second cat...
What sorts of gotcha's do I need to look out for? / the tricky bits of the job.
Don't ask much, do I?
Regards,
James

Best advice, get your local garage to do it, i tried doing mine at the weekend, it is a royal pain in the ****, the heatshield will drive you mad and remove half the skin off your hands.
Supposed to be having mine done today, but let down yet again, tomorrow I will know what all the fuss is about, I hope.
And our friends at Scoobysport are having a bit of bad press at the moment, see below.

I did mine last Friday. I would point out I had the use of a Pit so this made things easier as I could get at the bolts from above and below. I used the original bolts, no problems. There was no gasket between the turbo and the downpipe. I put a bit of liquid gasket on when fitting the downpipe.
I asked a few questions last week, Have a look at these threads
