I recently purchased my first Scoob (MY02 WRX 5-door, bug-eyes out, Morettes in) and although it's a bit of a come up from my last motor (Pug 306 diesel ) I noticed that after all the low-down torque & power it seems to run out of puff on the motorway. I read a bit of info about the Impreza performance pack - is this the same as the Prodrive Performance Pack ? Anyway I read that this provides a 20% power uppage in the midrange and wondered if anyone could give me any further info ie. what bits do they swap, what impact it has on fuel economy, how much is it & how long does it take, etc. The info about it on Subaru's webby was scant to say the least, so any further info would be very much appreciated.
Cheers

It is about £1500. They add a module to the ECU to adjust the manifold pressure sensor signal according to engine speed to get it to boost more. They also change the restrictor between the turbo outlet and wastegate actuator. They also change the intercooler hoses and remove the third cat and change the backbox.
Takes under 2 hours to fit. Dealers can do it.
Supposed to raise your torque to 261 lbft and the power to 240 BHP on Bugeyes.
A decat downpipe and uppipe also unlock a lot more power.
It is expensive for the power increase you get, but the only way to keep your warranty.
Fuel economy is only altered if you boot it. You could get better results by fitting an aftermarket ECU, or fitting a boost controller and changing the whole exhaust system.

The Flying Doctor (alias JB) is absolutely right.
The PPP (or whatever you want to call it) does just what John says and is a dealer-fit-and-forget power increase that gives you a big slug of extra power, particularly in the mid-range. He has one on his UK00, and so do I. It's great.
Major benefits are a) it works, b) it's really quick and easy to get done, and c) your warranty is maintained 100%.
However, if you know what you're doing and are prepared to shop around for different inlet mods, fancy ECUs and exhaust mods, you can get better results for less money. No warranty, though.
My UK00 is almost out of warranty now, and I'll be selling my PPP (they fetch a good price), getting a Link ECU and some trick exhaust and inlet mods. Just as well that BRD (leading Link fitters and mappers) have a three month waiting list as I ain't got the cash just yet
Richard.

Excellent, many thanks for your replies (and the link).
With the car being brand new, I'd probably be better keeping up to the warranty so I think I may go for it - when I've a bit more cash built up. The missus wants a holiday and I've forked out a small fortune in security gadgets to keep the twoccers at bay so it may have to be next year.
Anyway, thanks again !

On a MY99/00 using official figures it is just under 10% peak power increase. On the MY01/02 it is just over sadly. Some insurers run under 10%, 10-20%, 20%+ etc power increase bands - eg Privilege, Direct Line, Elephant etc.
I just declared up to 20% made sure they knew what I was doing, and then took it to exactly that figure on the rolling road And I pay about 20% extra for all the engine mods.
Tell them everything and get it confirmed on you schedule or by letter.
