Gearbox Guru's advice please
Hi there,
after some pre wallet lightening advice.
i currently have a (96) GL 2.0 nasp that I am intending to use for road rallys.
I have fitted the better suspension and brakes from a low mileage WRX and have a 4.1 LSD and a 4.1 STi (95?) gearbox to go with it but not fitted yet. there is no code on the box so I dont know the exact gear ratios but the FD is 4.1.
I am looking for more out of the power, or lack of(arent we all) so wonding if there is a low ratio option available, in reality the car does not need to do more than say 80 - 85 MPH, would rather it got up there quicker.
Other option is to get a 2.5 NASP but will It mate to the sti box I have or will I need all new clutch + gubbins.
I dont mind spending (not too much anyway) but it normally works out cheaper in the long run to go for the best setup from the outset, wondering what is out there and an idea of cost to get 160 - 200 reliable and useable horses.
I realise this is probably a million dollar question but any ideas as to what you would go for will be much appreciated.
