Hi all
Well this is a tricky one
I have just imported a seriously modified WRx engine into the country One of the things that has been done to it is a 2.2 stroker kit
The Stroke is 92.5 x 79
my question is - exactly what cc rating does that give it
also as it has been imported from Japan besides Jun Auto and Toda
Racing does anyone else in Japan do strokers for the WRX??
The reason for this is to deduct what Kit it has ( my feeling is its a Jun)

Thanks

Hi,

I make that a 2122 engine, including the 0.50mm overbore.

This is quite a common way to stroke an engine, as the 79mm crank is available stock from the Subaru 2.5lt engines. It would need custom pistons, rods, or both, depending on the preferance of the engine builder. There must be dozens of Jap tuners able to do this, so it's a little hard to say who did.

What engine management does it have. Have you checked the ecu, tuners often label them.

Mark.

The other stuff done to the engine that we have seen so far are as follows
1/ Trust Frontmount ( plate and Bar)
2/Large injectors- 720 cc ( we think)
3/T-61 turbo ( twisted)
4/The largest cams we have ever seen
5/Uprated feul pump
6/50 mm HKS s/s racing wastegate
7/ Cold airbox
8/Cusco Twin plate and flywheel
9/Seriously upgraded gearbox
10/Stroker Kit- rods,pistons,crank etc
11/ compression is 220 acoss the board
12/diamond coil packs- very large
13/evc valve controller
14/hks f-con v pro ecu
15 launch controller
16/knock sensors
17 HKS stainless extractors (very very sexy)
18/ seriously played with heads
19/throttle body enlarged
20/balanced and lightened pulleys
What sort of horse power if set right?????
Also what boost on the right fuel??
i hope this helps

I will send You some pics once we have done the transplant

oh by the way the whole vehicle cost me about 24000 nz or about 6000 pounds ( a bargain considering a 1996-97 gtb wagon goes for that alone

I assume you mean 220psi compression ? That's pretty high, but I suspect Pat could tell you what it relates to, in **:** terms. IIRC, 8:1 is circa 150/160psi, 8.5:1 is circa 180psi, so I'm guessing 220psi must be circa 9.5:1 (guesstimate).

With that type of compression, I can't imagine it runs very high boost, but with THAT turbo, I can't imagine it needs to

It's only a guess, but if the injectors are 720cc's, they are capable of flowing up to circa 490bhp (based on 5cc's per 1bhp, and 85% idc) what it's doing in reality, you'll have to wait and see.

Good luck,

Mark.
