Question

My car (MY01 UK WRX) is currently fitted with a full SS system and Forge DV (using the stronger red spring).

I've noticed (particularily in Spain last week, driving at very high speeds) that when holding the car in gear on boost I can hear what sounds like air escaping from (I presume) the DV. This is not the normal release of air that you get when you change gear, more like a steady stream of air being released at high pressure.

I have also noticed this in the last couple of days driving around at lower speeds in the UK.

It certainly doesn't sound right and I was wondering if any other users of the Forge DV had experienced this? I will probably drop the car back into SS next week to have a check with Pete, but in the mean time I would like to hear other people's opinion.

Cheers
Chris

Chris, does it sound like blowing across the top of a bottle? If so, it does indeed sound like the DV leaking.

Why not put the OE one back on and see if that cures it? At least then you know for sure where the problem is.

Thanks guys. Matt, no it sounds more like a high pitched escape of air.

Hi,

I had this with my bailey dump valve it used to happen when crusing at motorway speeds.... someone mentioned it was to do with the spring in the dump valve being weak.... but im not to sure about that as it would make a constant hiss even when not boosting....

I thought it might cause the car to run rich due to the air escaping so i changed it for a blitz SS dump valve and it stopped...

Hope this helps

Thanks Dan

I was wondering whether it was to do with the spring. In theory I am running the stronger 'red' spring which Pete fits as an option to the Forge DV - mainly because it holds the boost better. Maybe I just need a new spring...

Cheers
Chris
