TY754VN5AA into a classic
Am I likely to encounter any problems fitting this gearbox into a 1999 UK classic Impreza?
As it's from a 04 wrx I'm sure it's still a pull type clutch, but will I need the front driveshafts as well?
I'll get the rear diff from the 04 wrx but will my original rear driveshafts work?
Any help appreciated.

From memory it was the 6AA that went to the male style driveshafts. As long as the box has has the male stub shafts coming out of the box then you are fine. The front shafts will fit with the male stub shafts on the box, the later Hawkeye boxes changed to a female fitting on the box and a male fitting on the front shafts pretty much the same as the 6 speed boxes. The rear diff on the WRX is an R160 so your rear shafts will be fine with the 04 WRX diff. If your original box was a TY754VN1AA or 2AA it should have a 3.54 rear diff which is the same as the blobeye WRX. If you have not bought the 04 WRX diff you could pop the rear cover off your current rear dif and check the ratio. Either count the teeth or if you look at the side of the crown wheel the ratio will be stamped into it.

Cheers Arch you've backed up what I thought. I'll be fitting the 04 WRX diff mainly due to it having done a lot less miles than my original diff. Just need to split my original box now to see what's gone.
Thanks,
