Default HELP! No steering

Hey people,

Need urgent help...
Took the scoob (2003 STI type uk prodrive) up the road today, heard a sort of whistling noise for about 1 second. drove the car about 0.5miles then the steering failed.

I have steering but very very heavy and very limited - any thoughts??!?!?!

Need help urgently!!!

Thanks, Sam

Aux belt which feeds the power steering. Mine was pretty knackered when I had it replaced last year, it was on a 52 plate so your belt may be gone/snapped.

Yes the AA man could do it, but you nees to check it is that. Look in the engine bay, (engine off), on the front of the engine are the belts, see if there are any pulleys with no belt on. That might explain it.

Thanking you - i will look!
Hoping it is something like the belt and nothing major!
There have been no tell tale signs of the steering going.
Thanks, Sam

When my belt started slipping I had a feel of it and it was torn along the length. It sounds like you are a bit further down the road than me!! Easy to fit, by all accounts.
