Default Transmission Compatibility?

Hi there,

I know it's been done to death but I can't make head nor tail of it!

Will an 03 non-DCCD Sti 6sp box fit my 2002 wrx without changing diffs and rear hubs? Will I need to swap the prop shaft?

If both boxes have an N in the suffix code of the box then it should go in with the same rear diff
IE TY754 VN2AA is OK with
TY856 WN3JA

If one is a B where the N should be then not you'll need a rear diff to match the 6 speeder.

Then you must have:

6 speed prop [ a GC8 auto prop can be used on a GC8 car, but it doesn't line up straight down the tunnel of a new age car. So you'll need a 6 speed prop.

Gear lever and all linkage
2 x stump shafts in the front diff for the front drive shafts to connect to.
Clutch fork and hydraulics.
Anti plunge bracket as the 6 speed one is different to the 5 speed one.

If the 6 speeder is the WB type then you'll need a rear diff of 3.9 ratio and possibly [ year dependent ] 1 drive shaft.

Cheers for that - is there an easy way to find out what the code on my car is?

It's on the chassis plate - bottom right.
