1995 sti ra gearbox problem
Hi There,
i recently purchased a 1995 sti ra. the gearbox has an extermely loud rattle in first gear and looking back thru some old receipts i have noticed that this gear has already been repaired i therefore want to replace my current box.
I have checked the code on the box which is ty752vb3ea. after doing a bit of research i have found this out to be a close ration gearbox with a final drive of 3.900. I cannot seem to find an exact match for sale anywhere and the garage i have it in say any classic gearbox will be fine to put in. Does anyone know the impact of putting in a final drive ration box of 4.111 or 4.444.
will it have cause problems on the diff's etc?? also i have read depending on the final drive, means it can have a different amount of teeth?
lastly if it does need the exact code match does anyone know a good place to look cos im all out of ideas of where to try.
Thanks alot Gav

The diff ratio's must match front to rear.
Yes any box will fit, but damage will occur if the diff ratio's dont match.
Your choice is limited somewhat by the 3.9 ratio.
It may be worth buying a matched set (box and rear diff)
