Default Gearbox and diff oil in a my06 jdm sti with dccd

my car is a my06 sti( its equipped with DCCD)..
at the moment it has Eneos 75w90 GL5 both in diff and gearbox.
is it ok as the car has a LSD?
Will it be ok or is this the wrong type of oil?
Btw these are the info from Eneos about the specific oil

I am sure it will be fine, however the DCCD unit is recommended an oil with LSD properties and I dont see a mention of that on the pdf.

We recommend the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90 Silkolene SILKTRAN SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil

Cheers

Default DONT

I put Silkolene into My 2007 Sti Spec C! It made the front diff grab/groan.
I've put Silokelen BO90LS in the rear and Castrol Syntrax in the front/centre.

I bought the Silkolene from OPI who kindly changed to the Castrol for me. Though I'm dissapointed they've recomended the Siklolene again for a DCCD application!

Best regards,

Ian

Ian,

The reason we recommend it is the DCCD box is specified an LSD ready oil... Which the Syn5 75w-90 is (just following stock recomendation). The fact that yours didnt happen to like it or you didnt like the way the diff performed with it doesnt change the fact it meets all the required specs and works very well in most DCCD applications we sell to.

No need to be dissapointed

Cheers

Guy.

I was told the dccd should not use an LSD based oil.

Interesting, first time I have come accross that. My database here states GL5 75w-90 with LS properties. This is however not to be confused with a dedicated lsd diff oil that is not designed to be used in a gear box.

What does peoples hand books say for these then?

Cheers

Guy

so just to make things clear!

The specific eneos oil in the gearbox is fine but the same oil is not suited for the rear diff?
OR
The oil i have in both gearbox and Rear diff is the wrong one and might damage them both?

Also, while reading the my06 sti manual (i think for the USA model whihc if im not mistaken also has DCCD) it states for the gearbox just normal GL5 75w90 oil and specifies for the rear diff 90w oil with lsd additives or something

Default Update

Gents,

I don't know enough about the internal workings other than when I ran the slkolene it groaned and didn't sound right when turning tight corners in auto. It didn't do this with the factory fill oil and doesn't do it with the Castrol. I only use Silkolene in my engine though.

Sorry don't know about eneos oil, not seen or heard of it hear in the UK. I've not got a handbook as mine is a jap import.

Guy when I spoke with you or Simon when I had my problem some time ago, I'm sure you stated you'd update your database not to supply silkolene for the Sti DCCD box. I can't fault your advise or service it's just seems the DCCD box is very fussy about what's in it!

Best regards,

Ian

Hmm, I'm using Castrol Syntrax in Front/Centre DCCD and rear diff, not had much of a noise issue apart from the odd little clunky noise if diff in auto and at very low speed - find putting it in open makes steering easier and no noise at all. Would still like to know if its the best for box and diffs though as want this setup to last.
