Default Subaru 6 speed filter?

Hey all,

Anyone fitted a filter to a 6 speed? Just wonder if there is such a thing (like engine oil filter) or is it the magnetic sump plug does all that is requried

If so, any pics and links to product (if one does exist).

There is a large drain plug near the bell housing that has a magnet built in. But under the gearbox sump with the small drain plug is a big magnet that collects all the metal bits. Have a look on the magnetic sump plug flash at the top of this page.

Thanks buddy, I know the one you mean, just looks like a plate with small bolts and a nut one end (the sump plug I guess). Can the whole thing (plate) be taken off without anything falling out and does it need a new gasket on re-fit?

The plate can be taken off and just uses a sealant rather than a gasket.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look when she's next on the ramps...dont expect much on the magnet as the other sump magnet just had very fine particles in a small heap, normal wear. Will get some sealant to, shocked Sub dont use a rubber gasket for sump though...
