Default IS THE CLUTCH ON ITS WAY OUT

HI, I have an 03 sti with 345 bhp on 65k ,yesterday i thought i felt the clutch slip very slightly in fourth as i was going up through the gears hard, it was so slight i thought i imagened it i tried the low speed high gear test but it would not slip ! the clutch fluid has lost about 15mm over the last 12k , is this how these clutches start to go ? only ever done one before (granada about 12 years ago ) and that went straight away . cheers ,Rob.

Top gear steep slope 4000 rpm, if it is going to, it will then, especially well loaded.

Hi,
I'm a noob with these subaru's but to me it sounds like you might have a leaky clutch seal - perhaps this would account for the loss of fluid and a loss or pressure which might result in a slip. Perhaps if the seal was fixed it would fix both problems. This needn't be expensive, just the labour costs if you can't do it yourself. But it would involve removing the clutch and part stripping it.

Thanks , didnt explain the fluid very well ,its only gone down from the brim to the max mark over 2.5 years of ownership , went round to my trusted garage today (owner + mech both got scoobs ) the clutch bites very high, as in just before you take your foot off, so getting it done in a couple of weeks , Do any of you clutch experts think an EXEDY organic is ok for 345/335 . cheers Rob.
