Default Which clutch and where from for '95 wrx ?

A friend of mine needs a new clutch on his standard '95 wrx. I've offered to replace it for him and said I will get the clutch aswell.

I've heard that a cheap upgrade is to fit a standard sti clutch which I believe is 230mm instead of the standard 225mm ? If so,where is the best place to get one from and roughly how much will it cost ?

Yes, you can fit a 230mm clutch but will need to skim the flywheel (which is highly recommended anyhow).

So you NEED to skim the flywheel to be able to fit the 230mm clutch but you don't NEED to skim it to fit the 225mm ?

I think he just wants it replaced as quickly and cheaply as possible

Simon, you may or may not need the flywheel skimmed and you cannot tell without examining it. Why spend money needlessly skimming a flywheel when it is not necessary.
A new top quality steel flywheel BTW, choice of weights is £225. Additional clamp mod add £50.

For a clutch of this type I would simply give Mark a ring at Import Car Parts on Monday morning. 01388 834204 Import Car Parts - Japanese car parts for Subaru, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Mitsubishi and more

In terms of power and torque handling what is the difference between the 225mm and 230mm exedy clutch kits.
Would a 225mm clutch be good enough to handle over 300 bhp or would it be worth upgrading to the 230mm?

If it was my choice I would go for the 230mm just because it's 5mm bigger and may handle slightly more bhp/torque.

I'm going to fit the 225mm to my mates car as that is capable of around 300 odd bhp and he wants it replaced as cheaply as possible
