other than using a good flushing agent and ne woil to help. Is there anyother things I could try to reduce intermitent tappet noise???

I thought we aren't supposed to use engine flush in our old cars? If thats the case, I guess its time for me to change the oil in my car again. Any excuse to play with my car.

Luke, it is down the the hydrolic tappets. I would not advise using an engine flush agent. It could cause more problems that its worth. Just try a thicker oil.
