Question Clutch/Transmission noise ???

Hi All,

I have a Hawkeye WRX and am suffering from an indetermined high pitched squeek intermitently...

Noise happens when stationary or moving, in or out of gear. It disappears completely if i put any pressure on the clutch pedal, or push the clutch pedal down.

I can only really hear it low in the rev range <3k.. , but then the engine probably drowns it out.

I had the same problem just over a year ago and the main dealer replaced clutch parts in warranty which solved the problem, but the noise is now back... Car seems to be running normally - no clutch slippage or anything else, other than the annoying squeeking..

The car is now out of warranty and I'm not sure if I have any warranty on the work the main dealer did or not...

Any ideas what it might be? and any idea what the deal is on warranties for work done by a main dealer?

Many Thanks

Lup.

Its the clutch release bearing inside the box.

Warranty, depends on how long ago and how many miles you have done since it was previously done. I would imagine its 12 month warranty and limted mileage. Ring them and find out the worst they can say is "no". However they may say its general wear n tear or your driving style, as in, resting your foot on the clutch pedal when driving etc. etc. They'll always try and get out of it!
