I'm after more power in my MY01 WRX,
After talking to Merv at PE on Saturday his intitial suggestions were an APC front mount, bigger Turbo and Unichip, i'm fairly up on the electronics and basic bolt-ons but what about the actual engine components? what needs to be uprated to cope with up to 350 bhp, plus the effects on the clutch? gearbox?
Car at present is a UK MY01 WRX PPP with full ScoobySport de-cat, forge re-circ dump valve, Leda, AP 6 pots etc. figures at PE on saturday were 285 bhp - 258 lb/ft, i have considered a STI7 but after the money i've allready put into this car have decided to stick with it, any advice geatfully received.

I can't see why not... the pre '01 were producing 300+
Perhaps this would do it -
BRD Turbo
Link ECU
HKS Hiper (mid/rear)
HKS FMIC
HKS headers
HKS SSBOV (more for sound than performance )
APS d/p (sports cat)
APS induction kit
decat up pipe
Might get good figures from the above... ?

Hi Si. Sorry to but in but, following this one too - gotta keep my eye on you.
Rollerskate has the 210kw version with the top mount. Merv loaded the APS map for that. Still interested on Rollerskates view on that. Figs at PE were idential to yours almost, having re-read the original thread.

What about boost and fuel controllers Si?
Not sure if they would work with your ECU, but from what I know of them if they worked, and you saw usual gains, it should take you past 300.
Better get it done quick, coz once I lose my bhp at the end of the week, I shall be looking for more and coming after you

I think the Front mount intercooler (Blitz and APS requires you lose the fog lamps (I'll have your gas discharge driving lights ), MRT does not) and larger turbo (VF23, VF24, VF30 or VF34 if you can find one) are sensible ideas if you are going for that amount of power. However, if you look for much more than 320 BHP you will also need to change the injectors, fuel pump and run with a fully programmable engine management system (eg Link not Unichip). Much more than 350 BHP you'll run into problems with your clutch and transmission. Some of the guys on i-Club are running this sort of power and are trying to get the 6 speed transmission from the STi.

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego ?
No ! !
I mean 'Who can supply APS in UK ?'
Look at the pipes ! It is straight through !
There's a hi flow cat, so no worry 'bout CEL's and they claim only 3.5 psi back pressure against the 9.5 from stock.
