No Noise, no grinding no indication that anything was on its way out. driving down ballymena line no bother slowed for dunsilly and then accelerating back unto motorway just no 5th gear - it's like it's not even in the box just not going anywhere? Take it this is the way ur gearbox goes when its had enough? If so any idea how much i'm likely to be paying to get her fixed?

99/00 it might be the 5'th gear retainer nut that needs to be tightend up

symptoms are not able to get it into 5'th gear or falls out of gear, common problem with 00/99
