Wheeering noise from gearbox/drive??
Hi guys, the Scoob seems to have developed a new noise. Only this one is a bit scary.
We now have a wheering noise, if thats how you spell it? Coming from drive, gearbox area when driving, more so when you ease off of the accellerator, but does do it when powering on also. There are no other problems when driving and changing gears. Climbed underneathe to see what I could find and nothing stands out.
There is a bit of play in the coupler that holds the drive shaft heading towards the rear of the car??
Main fear is that it is from the gear box, and it is on it way out.
All help greatly appreciated.
Cheers P

Sounds like the box bearings to me, most noticeable when you lift off. Quite common on classics. They can go for miles like this, but as everything, better to get it done before it fails.

Cheers Mit, after seeking advice from API, could be the rear brarings at rear of box. They can change them without removing the box so booked in this Monday
