Question

Hi all,

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has had a phase1 upgrade. I've got an MY01 and have a Prodrive BB. From the dyno figures it looks like combining a BB and the PE phase 1 will give about 270BHP and about the same in torque.

Questions are:

1.) is it good?
2.) will it destroy my engine?
3.) has anyone done it to a bugeye?
4.) what is the capital of Peru?

Otherwise I'll have to go the full SS decat route or wallet permitting PPP

Cheers,

Simon

I think you'll find the PE Phase 1 was only available for pre-99 (eg. Phase1) engines.

I think quite a few people with UK cars were very satisfied with what this did for them.

Andrew...

PS. Lima.

I don't think PE make the Phase 1 for the new shape. In fact at present they only make it for pre 99 cars (although it looks like 99 and 00 version are soon to be released). Their site says:

"Phase One ECU upgrade is for all cars - UK and imports - except 1999 models" but I think this was written back in 99 ! Check with them on 01895-255699...

Its a shame the search isnt working. You would find a hell of a lot of conflicting opinions on the phase one mod.

Wink

I had one in my car for a dyno run only at PE... my car is MY98 with Magnex decat centre, Scoobysport back box, and ITG filter.

I didn't buy it for economic reasons, but looks good from the graph (dyno runs done back to back, lower curves my ECU, higher ones PE ECU):

I didn't drive the car with the PE ECU in.

I am more than happy with the way PE have dealt with my car (MY84 WRX). The car has been remapped by them several times (and I haven't finished yet) Car was originally mapped in August 99 and is still running (very) strong. Currently up to 335 bhp on 95 ron fuel at 1.2 bar and no hint of detonation (well not in this cold weather anyway)

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the responses peeps,

Looks like:

1.) PE phase1 is not available for MY01 yet
2.) I hasn't got the glowing praise I had expected
3.) a full decat is on the way
4.) the capital of Peru is indeed Lima (Thx AndrewC)

PPP too expensive at the mo :-(
