Max safe boost for a P1

I am having a unichip fitted and want to know what boost I can run.
John Nobles at Chesterfield reckon 1.2bar is the maximum

you need egt gauge and afr to check all ok when boosting mine goes to 1.2/1.25

I am not sure what NINJA is referring to when he says use EGT and AFR? This is good advice, but as you are having a Unichip fitted then the tuner should sort this for you - if he doesn't then he should be shot!

Clearly 1.9bar is barmy - but 1.3 should be very acceptable - however with the Unichip you may want to set it slightly lower as the boost can wander about a bit, especially if the car gets hot on track. It also depends on your boost control strategy.

PS Comments relate only to STI based engines based on MY OWN experience over nearly 30k miles of 'fiddling'!
