Advice on oil change - Type-R
#1
Having had my MY99 Type-R for about 6 weeks now I am going to do an oil change between services just for my own piece of mind. I would like to know a couple of things:-
1) Do you have to remove the engine tray to get to the sump plug or is there an access hole?
2) What type of drive does the sump plug require? eg square or hexagonal.
3) Where abouts is the oil filter?
4) What are the max/min points on the oil dipstick as I seem to remember various holes and notches?
Cheers,
Craig.

Hi Craig, Ive just changed the oil/ filter on MY00, ur best bet is to drop the undertay 6 screws, 2 front, 2 rear and 2 in the arches plus two plastic clips near the gearbox. There is acces to the sump plug (17mm) but not too the filter, the filter is located near the sump kinda "hanging down" easily accesable, total capacity with filter is apprx 4.5litres, everyone seems to reccomend a little less to prevent solenoid contamination, I used castrol rs 10w60 and a genuine filter
hope this helps
