From memory, any ty754vn 1 2 3 or 4, all are uk boxes with the same ratios, when you get to the vn5, the shafts are different.....

Have a look here

The SPDA - Transmission Chart

Apparently all UK boxes run similar ratios apart from the odd "special"

As a matter of policy we do not offer assistance to someone who has bought something, somewhere else and then want us to advise if it is the right one or will it do this or that. The guy who took your money is the one to ask.

It is a shame if you have genuinely wanted us to do work for you using parts bought elsewhere. We fit customers own parts all the time.

In practice, we have had such offers to do major unit work before, using parts about to be bought elsewhere and absolutely every time [ so far ], the work has never materialised.

I am happy to offer all possible assistance to Scooby owners that I can, but draw a line at helping someone spend their money somewhere else.

Try asking Currys to install a telly bought at Argos..........

Apologies, if you genuinely wanted us to do the work.

VN4AA needs the front drive shaft seals changing for the correct ones, as it is a later box that uses one piece driveshafts.

Thus it is not a straight swap.

David

PS still waiting for LJF to call re the work he wants us to do................

Default TY54VN1AA / 2AA

Hiya gents sorry to butt into your thread. First post and all that.. Ive got a uk 51 reg bugeye and had suspected front diff noise issues with a TY54VN2AA box. When I sourced a replacement box which was advertised as a TY54VN2AA a TY54VN1AA box arrived. Now ive been doing some research and reading through endless threads on here to find out if it will just drop straight in or am I going to have rear diff issues? Seems the gears/syncro's are the same for a 1AA and 2AA but just wanted your opinion. Cheers in advance, thanks, RJ

So just to confirm a TY754VN1aa for have same ratios as all 754VN's? Be 3.9, 1.1, 3.545? Only driveshafts may be different?

Went 'strait' in, only Change to the gearbox was the speedo drives you'd have to swap them over from your broken box as it's electronic

Cool. My question was regards the ratio of the TY754VN series of boxes, mine is a 4aa, just bought a 1aa, no rear diff with it, I think it's the same ratio. What is the ratio of a 754vn4aa? 2003 uk wrx

Sure is a turbo 2000 box, pretty sure it's same as my TY754VN4aa except the front shafts. Outies on the 2000 box, innies in mine. Pull type clutch on both.
It's very easy for someone to say just get the diff and swap both, but in reality most gearboxes are for sale on their own.
Worst case scenario I will have to swap the transfer case, front diff and pinion shaft.

That's a lot to be messing about with when you can buy a box and paired diff for cheapish

I would rather build a gearbox on the bench than ly under the car and change the rear diff! Gearbox has just arrived on a pallet. Much cheapness

Your backward mate, 2 hour max to change a diff, dono how long it takes to build a box I'd imagine a lot longer than changing the diff

Bout the same time really. Of course it would be easier if the correct box ratio was used in the first place, that's the backward thing! Folk probably changing a 3.545 diff for another 3.545 diff just cos it came with the box. Madness
