from what I can remember, R180 is 180mm wide at the rear of the Diff and R160 is 160mm wide at the rear of the Diff.

Jeez Russ you on drugs ?

R180 has a 180mm crown wheel, R160 has a 160mm crownwheel. However they are externally identifiable though difficult to describe.

Take a pic of the rear plate and post it up.

OK then John so it would be fair to say that the 180 diff has a larger body and rear cover than the 160?

Pretty sure I was told the above body size information from one of the techies @ Coordsport a couple of years ago. I had no reason to doubt them. Maybe I should have

I'll measure up a 160 and 180 diff when @ home and see what I get.

Question

Distance between bolts on the back is the giveaway, but can't completely remember. I think that the distances correspond to the crownwheel sizes but not sure = drop david at API a line -he'll know

R180 diffs have 80mm centres between the bottom cover plate bolt heads and R160 diffs have a spacing of 60mm.

Cheers
