Im replacing the clutch on 99 impreza turbo and have been told its normal
to have to replace the flywheel aswell as once the clutch starts to slip it ruins it . Does this sound right to you?

You normally get heat cracking/high spots/scoring on the flywheel and if your doing the job yourself, its wise to have a replacement flywheel to hand.
IMHO - It's a bit like fitting new brake pads to old worn/glazed brake discs - takes ages to bed the friction lining in and never feels right.

You can remove the locating dowels and have the flywheel skimmed by an engineering shop, so long as the cracks in it aren't too deep. Always worth replacing the spigot bearing though.
