Yup, Dexron for the Auto Gearbox

Front & Rear Diffs should have Castrol Syntrax 75w90 in them.

Rob,

The box takes just over 7 Ltrs I believe, but will double check this for you when at wk tomorrow.

You need to fill the box up to the "Cold Max" mark on the dipstick & then start the engine, run the gear selector slowly through all the options (with h/brake on & foot on brake pedal) to prime the box with fluid & then put it back into park. Leave the engine running and then check the oil level.

If it is low, then switch off, add some oil & then carry out the procedure again until you get a correct reading.

exalent mate,i have done thi diffs this morning,& the front diff was hugely over filled which is scarey as i had a local garage do this job for me when i first bought the car,but all is well now with the correct levels & the correct oils.
Im waiting for a filter to arrive for the auto box so i shall wait for that before i carry out the fluid change.

Phil, your helpful info was very much appreciated as i know looking after the transmission is often overlooked & neglected & I TRY & KEEP EVERY ASPECT OF MY CAR 100% up together. Nice 1.

Your welcome Rob,

Your transmission oils chould be changed every 30,000 miles or 3yrs (whichever is sooner) and its worth doing (especialy on an auto) as a replacement unit is v. expensive.

If you are already dirty & in the mood to do the gearbox oil today then it won't hurt.

You can just change the filter in the week when you get it. Just remember to follow the procedure & check the level in the box again once the new filter is on.

oh FFS since i knew i wasnt doing the gearbox today i didnt give it a look over,i was told that the filter is inside the sump pan of the box & that i have to remove that to change the filter.

So is this not true? is it screwed on the side of the box somewhere then?

It's possible that it's an internal filter, I assumed you had an external one as you were asking if you could change it afterwards, if you PM me with your chassis number I will confirm which type you have.
