Unhappy please dont be what i think......

hey all. one of my problems is when i accelerate then take my foot off the accelerator peddle there is a kinda grinding noise!!! it dosnt matter if im going fast or slow but it only happens when im in gear (thats why i put it in this bit) i think but i really hope its not the big end bearing...has any1 had this b4

Any help plse???????

Big ends don't sound like 'grinding'.......... but gearboxes do!! esp as it only happens when in gear..... mine had started to whine slightly, then last week it broke, no real warning, BANG... that was that!

As ron said,more likely gearbox. If it's a classic,then you can pick em up cheap enough.

Unless it's the thrust bearing,much cheaper if it is!

are you sure its not a heat sheild? mine would grind until i wolloped a bolt into it. havnt heard it since

same noise on my 03 sti, but with a whine somtimes, gonna look into a new gearbox.
