Currently have a *standard* RB5 with GGR induction kit, Scoobysport centre pipe and backbox. What I want is a little more power i.e 240-260bhp. I have seen second hand Unichip's for sale, what does that do? how much to fit/set up. Budget is limited(ish) so as cheap ideas, can anyone offer upgrades for more bhp.
Ideas so far:
Chip
Re-map ecu
Regards
Pete.

Did you think about a downpipe ?

Would do that before Unichip etc... unless I misread your post.

Thought about downpipe but have been in a car with it and found it too noisy for my liking plus MOT restrictions didn't want the hassle of taking it off everytime.

Thumbs up

A Prodrive ECU would go well on an RB5. Very smooth, not the quickest about, respectable midrange torque, works fine on NUL, insurance friendly. Second hand could be reasonable and fit and forget. Adds rather than detracts from resale value unlike other mods. You already have some of the exhaust bits so best to source an ECU separately if you want to do this.

I can confirm it is then a good platform on which to fit a boost controller. You can also get good results on the original ECU with a boost controller. I won't mention the word that begins with D, but have you considered the £25 option?

You've not been reading much Drivetrain obviously http://www.dawesdevices.com - see original super duty boost controller. This should put you at almost 270bhp at PE with an exhaust.
