Default WRX STi MY04 black box behind osr wheel?

What is the black plastic box behind my WRX STi MY04 Type UK offside rear wheel?

It is the size of a hard back book and looks like it only has black vent/air/?fuel? pipes going to it and no electrical wires.

Yours perplexed!
Jon

Hi Jon,
The Canister is part of the Emission Control System - it just collects the fuel vapour from the fuel tank and the vapour is absorbed by the activated carbon inside the Canister.

Thanks, being a petrol head I should really extend the pipe and redirect it to the cockpit where I can breath neat petrol vapour.. nice...

LOL - the Purge Control Solenoid for the Charcoal Canister is mounted under the Inlet Manifold - you can run a shorter hose from there !!
