Yeah that subject again!?

Dealer is reseting the ECU on my car today whilst it is in for a service...

Should I drive it any differently when I get it back?

Been running on Optimax last 5 tanks or so...

Cheers for advice..

Half expecting it to make no difference but thought I might as well as it probably never been done.

Fairly impressed with the courtesy car... a Legacy as long as you don't want to go Impreza quick it drives very nicely and is only the GL.

Had mine reset last week (MY94 WRX STI), superb much more of a push in the back when turbo kicks in.

Have fun....

Reset mine myself other week, seems to make a tiny difference, but not a lot. but I don't know if I did actually reset it, the codes say I did, but hey, who knows, this is akin to black magic

Question

My MY00 goes in for the 12 month service tomorrow. If I ask, will the dealer do an ECR reset for, me without questioning me about it? What about warranty?

I've been running on Optimax for 6 months or so now.

Cheers

Matt.

Well I just asked do they check if there are any ecu error codes?

they said not unless the check engine light is on.. oh I said..

he then said before I had chance to ask "but I can plug it in and reset it if you like" yes please...

I think the newer cars reset the fuel adjustment up faster than the older cars so you might not notice any difference.. nor might I..

I would assume it depends on the dealer but see no reason why yours shouldn't...

I'm sure this has been discussed many times before but I cannot get the SEARCH to work. I get my first scooby next week, a MY02 5 door with no mods. I intend to run it on Optimax as much as poss but I'm sure I'll get caught short from time to time. When this happens, should I just put in any SUL ? and what effect will this have on the ECU settings ?

Can you reset the ECU yourself? If so, how?

Many thanks from a scooby virgin (who's gettin very excited as the day gets closed).

fazack, I believe the method is to first make sure the entire fuel system has the fuel which you intend to run it on in.

Disconnect the battery for at least 1/2 hour?

Reconnect - dadaaa. ECU reset.

I think you're supposed to leave the engine running for 5 mins or so before driving as I think it sets/learns the ignition timing during this period.

I reckon this is the procedure....anyone know better?

Alex

Don't think you need to do ECU resets on new age WRX. The ECU works it out for itself on the fly.

I believe it is only the older Scoobies that need the reset but# I have only heard that on this board previously (so it must be right ).

Definitly a noticed pick up in accelleration but whether that is the ECU Reset of the new air filter etc.. I dunno... but I am happy...
