I have a MY98 which hesitates between 2-3000 rpm when slowly accelerating in 3rd/4th/5th. It doesnt seem to happen if you boot it. I know there has been similar problems posted saying this is a charateristic but I just wondered if there was a possible cure?

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Hi I have a my99 UK car and I have the same problem and so do most scooby's but this only happens when the car is cold when it is fully warm the car runs smooth.
If your problem persists when warm take it to the garage and have it looked at.

I'm not too sure about this but I've heard that scoobies can sometimes hesitate because the ECU map has been written so that it knocks back power when it is under the same conditions as when doing an emissions test and I wonder if this is what your car is doing.

i.e. because you're on part throttle at 2-3000 rpm, these are similar conditions to an emissions test and so the ECU map knocks back the power to get the emissions within spec...

Just a thought

Andy

The hesitation does occur when warm. I took it to my local dealer and when out for a drive with a technican and he said it was a characterist of the car. It could be something to do with the standard mapping which has been sorted on later vehicles. I just wondered if there were any cheap mods etc that could get rid of it. At the moment it has an ITG filter and SS back box.

Thanks Stuart
