Default Rear Diff Broke !!!!!

Help needed -
Impreza 95 Uk Spec Turbo - Few weeks back the rear diff bearings where knocking now ive think they have gone as got no power in the car then it comes back so im pretty sure that the rear wheels are not driving all the time anyway I cant afford to get this done for a couple of weeks but is it ok the continue driving it with only the front wheels working ???
The other question is anyone got a rear diff or know where I can get one delivered etc ?
Thanks

I broke the nut when I treid to fit a diff guard, and then the case broke when I was drilling it out and so did the seal...

I lived up Scarborough way when I bought it and it spent it first 5 years cruising the NE coast as far as I can tell.

I'm slowly getting aroung and sorting the salt corrosion, and the diff problem is a result of it

I must admit I wouldn't know how to deal with that much rust layers, can you sand blast some of it then get it sprayed? Underseal once clean is a must or she'll keep rusting and rustin. It must be tricky doing various bits of jobs, even brake calipers bleeding? Good luck m8.
Oh, I sprayed my R180 diff cover wrinkle red and it looked good, also no rust for removing bolts

Wire brush, jenolite and some hammerite.

I'm thinking about polishing the new diff before it gets fitted, or maybe paint depending on how enthusiastic I feel.

If polish, it will tar over time, you need keep polishing unless you can clear seal it somehow? If by sea, I'd spray it all.

I live in London now and having aquired a couple of low ramps keeping it polished won't be a problem. I've already got a polished lower h-brace, diff guard and exhaust to keep on top of, plus I'm thinking of doing the front lower wishbones

Yes, more rust to treat...

I smashed the rear diff in my 02 WRX, it drove (just) on the front for a very short distance, roughly as far as my local garage then lost all drive completely.

Just engaged and made lots of nice grinding noises.
