Volvo T5....white smoke...
Gf's dad is having probs with his T5, its a fairly oldish one and is in a bit of a state tbh.
He's just had his oil change and I wondered 3 things;
maybe some water in the oil = white smoke???
Or
Knackered spark plugs (looked quite bad)
Or
Head Gasket?
The smake was bellowing out on start-up and didn't stop until he turned around, went home and parked it up, it was quite bad.
Any ideas lads....

well alot of cars do smoke quite a bit with condensation, mine esspecially with it having no cat. Maybe his cat has gone pop, check the spark plugs if you want there is no harm in doing that. If the head gaskets gone then you will know when you take the cap off the oil filler it will have a creamy residue. Hope this helps ya

Sludge under oil filler cap isnt always there because of head gasket failing,if the car doesnt get a good thrashing every now and again it will gunk up,will block up breathers aswell.A lot of t5s that i work on kick out a fair bit of white smoke .New plugs in it wont harm and not that expensive.just keep an eye on coolant level.
