having just got my car back from having a 2.5 conversion done,my classic uk spec gearbox has decided to go.stripped 3rd gear. im not rolling in it at the mo after the conversion skinted me,but whats the best route to take?rebuild using straight cut/or 6 speed are out the question due to price.seen some second hand boxes but alot are sti ones,does that mean i need the diff aswell?as it is uk spec should i be looking for a p1 box as is stronger?the car is 300bhp/350 torque.much help would be appreciated.cheers guys

Ideally you would get a ppg kit to future proof you, but if your plans are to keep it as is then another uk 5 speed box will do.

I happen to have my 5 speed box off my car when I went to ppg. PM me if interested

its the torque that kills boxes,and at 350 lb ft any serious use will send a standard box the same way,best to bite the bullet and go 6 speed if cash is tight or ppg if it can be afforded

try and find 1 out of an STi 5 or 6 saloon, as in NOT type R

Value option may be to source a 5 speed from the newage 2.5 wrx, rumoured to be stronger than the classic 5 speeds and should be compatible with your rear diff.

Replacing with a classic UK ph1 box is false ecomony IMO
