Default neutal switch on a classic

just a quick question when i removed my gearbox on my my96 due to upgrading to ppg box, i noticed there was no wires coming from the neutral switch or the reverse switch (which i new about anyway) does the classic use the neutral switch in anyway as it has been mapped twice since ive owned an it seems to make no difference to the car ?????
