Maybe looking to purchase a Motec M48 Pro ECU.

Anyone got any experience of the 'reliable' power gains that this will give me?

When you will have more infos, write it. Im interested of Motec too.
But: It depends on program and mapping. My friend has Lancer EVO6 with Motec. He changed four times the engine. The engine was broken on highways when the throttle was on 1/4 position (about 160-170 mph). The mixture was too lean. The man from Motec tryied to solve this problem but the car did the same three times the same. Now he use Ralliart ECU and everything O.K. I checked Motoc on SUBARU and the program was bad too. On idle and low speeds the car was undriveable.

Result: Motec is good platform but if you have wrong mapping you can destroy your engine.

Good luck simon - the thing i think people often say is that the ECU is only ever as good as the Mapper!!!!

Bob seems the man IMHO

I got a MoTeC M48 on my MY00. The ECU itself is more you will ever need in terms of functions and parameters however it is primarily used for group N rallying etc. All boils down to the tuner and there is no way to know who is an xpert unless they have a track record ON THE SPECIFIC MAKE.
Only function the M48 is laking is the stepper motor control for idle management (ie cold start, air con etc) so u gonna have a bit more idle rpm (about 1000) otherwise my car started repeatingly at -11 celcious during my winter break. If u wait a bit i heard motec is slashing prices...
