Default Gearbox & Diff Oil Questions

My car is approching the 48k service so I'm going to be doing all them things that never normaly get done.

My questions is, what grades of oil should I be putting in my diffs & gearbox.

I was thinking of using Millers CRX LS 75w-90 in the rear diff, but I read on a search that the front diff shares the same oil as the gearbox so cant use an LS oil due to the synchromesh.

What oils should I be using in the gearbox/front diff on the MT6 and any recommendations for the rear diff if the above isn't used?

Also, can somebody let me know quantities for the rear diff? Gearbox/front diff is supposed to 4.1litre.

Would you consider a different oil when your pushing 400+hp?

The car is an MY02STi

Thanks for any help.

Different car(classic) but generally i put the same in the rear diff as my box-currently got castrol syntrax/driveline in both, bk diff takes about 3/4litre if i remember right,"think" only the dccd boxes need a fully synth though someone will correct me if im wrong-ran fully synthetic in mine till i had syncro trouble ran syntrax ever since gettin em sorted an its been fine.

I take it fully synthetic in the gearbox plays havoc with the sychro's?

I would have though Limited Slip oil's would be OK to use in the gearbox but I'm not going to be the first to try it out

oh my god yer learnt that at 33,000mile-gutted wheres 5th gear meant a trip to zen for me alot earlier than planned can only put it down to gear oil at that mileage and bein 5th gear aint like it gets much abuse.

OK, so I've sussed out that I need a GL5 75w90 gear oil and it looks like Red Line do a fully synthetic that IS recommended for syncro gearbox's and LSD's (Opie Oils also recommend it). Motul also do a Gear 300 75w90 which I believe is suitable for the car.

Both oils are recommended for diff and gearbox.

Any comments (I know you have made you point on synthetics Dave and cheers for that but most oils state suitable for synchro's).
