I have heard that some of you have used this product and seem to be happy with results.
I have uk300 ppp, ITG and scoobysport bits. I would like more torque, and wondered if this is the way to go.

Questions
1/ How does it work
2/ How safe on uk car
3/ What would I get in terms of performance etc
4/ Cost and dealers (London prefered)
5/ APEXi as alternative, (Same questions)

My little knowledge believes that ecu still controls fuel cut ie safty margin before big bang???? Is this right?

Cheers Terry

PS understand RB5SCOTT you have this setup, please tell me your opinion. thanks

I've got a HKS EVC3 on a MY96 Uk. Very Happy.

1/ It replaces your standard boost control solenoid and (I think) controls the wastegate actuation point electronically rather than mechanically. (open to correction here - I'm no engineer)
2/ Can only comment on my car - safe enough, but tell your insurers
3/ how does 1.35 bar grab you? But that's with the ECU cutoff raised
4/ they are around the 3-400 quid mark. I got mine 2nd hand for £220
5/ Seen the APEXi. Looks absolutely awesome. I would have gone for this if I had the £.

Hope this helps

Cheers
Rich

I am trying to establish if something like the HKS is safe on a TD04L such as MY99/00. Reason being is it will keep the wastegate closed at the top end as it does not AFAIK read RPM. If the boost is say 1 bar at 6000rpm is this harmful with a completely closed wastegate? See MY99/00 boost at the top end thread for more.

Any input welcomed. The same concerns would apply to any boost controller which does not control the boost depending on RPM and TPS. The Apexi AVC-R does both, and if I was buying would be the one I would go for, but it is about £600, so I am trying to make my own - see the thread in drivetrain - DIY EBC for £10.
