G/Box / diff probs, your thoughts.
95 wrx running 370 bhp./ 360lbs torque.
ok in 1st,2nd,3rd,and 4th, but in 5th under load it feels like somethings about to go bang. massive juddering and slight banging, and clutch slips very slightly. This happens in 2-3 second bursts. It goes into 5th gear no problem, just under power it plays up.
you let off the power and its fine, go back on the power, same again, but at the same time if you keep your foot planted down, it will drive through it and clear.
under normal driving 5th gear is fine.
no crunching of gears or crunching of rear diff when manouvering etc.
dropped the diff oil and G/Box oil, all nice and clear and clean, no nasty debris.
I personally think its 5th gear about to give way, as its ok in every other gear.
can't be a clutch issue, as its fine in every other gear under load etc (uprated exeddy fitted 1200 miles ago.)
I know its running some decent power figures, but i would of thought if anything 5th gear would be the last to go. All the other gears seem to get more torque put through them i would think.
Any thoughts on this, or anyone suffered similar probs.
feedback much appreciated, before i start pulling the box or diff out, when it might be something else, doubt it though,
cheers.

The size of the gears determines the actual torque through the gear set.
To get the largest gear reduction for top speed one of the gears has to be "quite" small, so with a huge amount of torque, the end is nigh !
On one of my cars I stripped fourth (top) gear to bits with a modded engine.
