Default nasty metal to metal noise

need some help people iv just bought a 1998 type r i have a really loud nasty grating noise coming from thr rear of the car its like a metal to metal grating noise, this noise only happens when the cars done about 10-15 miles{warm} and when im in first gear eg slowing down for a junction or turning in to a parking space i can feel it through the car, and it seems to be rear diff or drive shaft area its too loud and nasty to be coming from the brakes its not suspension either and dccd is on first green. iv checked diff oil and theres plenty in there can anyone please help cause iv just bought the car

It's most likely the rear end components unless your driveshaft or axles are heavily damaged and on their last leg. To check the health of the rear end just drain the pumpkin and inspect the fluid. Another strategy to measure the slack is to quickly get on/off the gas, if the transition is smooth it's probably suspension/axle related but if the transition is abrupt it's probably your center diff or driveshaft that's worn out. Try checking sti rearend noise for other's experiences. That's the best I can do with the given information.
