MY01 PPP Ecu
#1
Has anyone seen the discussions on i-club re the Prodrive ECU available unofficially in the states?
I note from some one of the threads it appears that the MY01/2 PPP ECU is just a board in the standard ECU. I know the MY01/2 ECU is self learning but might this explain the poor results some conversions seem to give, i.e you get an ECU from a car that has been run on poor petrol or something?
The board is a "MAP signal converter" can anyone explain what that means, I'm starting to get there with the techy bits but the insides of an ECU are still beyond me.
More interestingly, it would appear that in the US Prodrive will be making the ECU available on its own (and I believe the US have lower RON fuel than we do). Begs the question as to why we can't have the ECU on its own here, albeit in non warrantied format. Surely they are just as capable as we are as fitting it to a car with non-standard exhausts etc.
Personally if I were to change the ECU it I would probably err to the Link route route when it is available, would just be interested in peeps views.
Cheers
Simon
