Following on from Gavin P's question on another post regarding a cheap and effective FMIC.

I was considering the pro's and con's of sticking my standard top mount intercooler down in front of the rad. Yes I know it's just a 'wee thing' but it currently does a reasonable job straddled between a hot turbo and gearbox whilst being fed air through a tiny letter box.

When you measure the 'letter box' intake area on the bonnet scoop, it is less than 1/3rd of the Intercoolers area and 25% of this is ducted to blow over the turbo, not the I/C !

Recent discussions regarding the top scoop's suspect air flow at speed, have also raised questions on it's suitability for running with increased boost.

A few metres of alloy tube and silicon bends would be all that's required to fit it. Less than, say 150 pounds ?

I know it will be unlikely to match a big APS or Pace but surely it would be a big improvement for not a lot of outlay ?

I'm sure someone must have tried this before ???

All opinions welcome !
