Compatibility of Type r gear boxes.
Quick question, the gearbox in my 99 sti v5 type r with dccd is TY754VB1CA.
Would the gear box out of a 95 type ra with dccd: TY752VB3EA be a straight swap, and not effect the diffs etc. (Obv the gear ratios are different.)
Just want it for spares, for the trackdays/hiilclimbs of 2008....
Thanks guys

i just swapped from type ra 95 to type r and found that rear drive shafts were bigger on type r so had to swap hubs etc as well.you can check out ratios and diffs on gearbox chart at.. The SPDA - Transmission Chart

I wish I could say yes, but it doesn't (I have a box for sale!)
But any R180 3.9 rear diff (from a newage JDM 6speed) will fit with it, since the front diff from a MY95 STi RA gearbox is 3.9 and the DCCD is 1:1 - and your car has a R180 diff

ME!
My advert in for sale section
But you already have the R180 diff and shafts/hub etc because yours is a type R
The post above was putting a type r gearbox and diff into a non R car - which has the smaller R160 diff/shafts etc.
All you'd need is a 3.9 R180 IIRC

The type r gearboxes from MY97 onwards have a final drive of 4.444 not 3.900.

In fact a 3.9 rear diff on any classic turbo is very rare, it just so happens to be needed with the box the OP was asking about
